Panning Practice for thriller opening sequence

we took a short video of us practicing the panning that we are attempting to do in our opening sequence so that when it comes to filming it properly we can make it look realistic and give lots of clues to the audience. We could improve this by maybe using a tripod to steady the camera or have a steady hand using handheld camera.
